General Patent Search Process
- Determine the scope/theme of the search.
- Generate search keywords.
- Select the classification field.
- Perform the search.
- Evaluate the search results/generate a search report.
Providing Official Search Reports for Hong Kong Short-Term Patent Applications
- According to the provisions of the Patents Ordinance (Chapter 514) in Hong Kong, an official search report must be submitted for a short-term patent application. We can assist patent applicants in obtaining the required official search report from the relevant patent authority.

- Providing an official search report is also one of the necessary conditions for obtaining government funding for patent applications. For further information, please refer to (Government Funding Program).
Fee Schedule: HK$4,000 per application (Chinese)
Note: Limited to obtaining search reports from SIPO (State Intellectual Property Office).
Providing Unofficial Search Reports for Any Type of Patent Application
- We can also complete unofficial search reports based on the technical disclosure materials provided by the applicant, prior to the submission of any type of patent application, to make a preliminary assessment of its licensing prospects.
